Position Description
Title: Business Development Manager
Department: Sales
Reports to: Vice-President of West’s
Transportation Solutions
West’s Transportation Solutions, LLC
is a licensed Property Broker and one of five
companies in the West Brothers family of
Logistics, Warehousing, Leasing / Maintenance
and Transportation Brokerage companies. This
position is open to pre-determined focus
locations in the US.
West is seeking a very qualified
professional for this position that can enhance
our growth as well as the individual through
their sales efforts. The right individual will
have a prior record of sales achievements in a
Truckload capacity and analytical talents
(Computer, Microsoft Word, Excel Spreadsheets,
and Powerpoint Presentations). Candidate must
be futuristic in planning and goals for success
for their area.
Education/Experience Requirements/Job
Summary and Purpose:
•Currently employed within similar
Sales Position for a minimum of 2 years
concurrent is a must.
•Candidate must not be under
Non-Compete from current employer and past
employers.
•A proven track record of Sales and
Market Analogy in the Truckload industry,
preferably that of Brokerage Truckload
Sales.
•Understand the Service and Value
added proposition of Brokerage transportation
and maintain those high standard with all
clients.
•A degree is preferred or relevant
successful experience will be acceptable
•Evidence of strong leadership,
interpersonal and communication skills.
•Knowledge and understanding of All
Federal HOS, Safety and regulatory issues.
•Ability to function as a
self-starter with considerable latitude of
action dealing with V.P. and clients.
•Ability to recognize, isolate and
solve problems that improve company’s
overall performance and customer satisfaction
and loyalty.
•Ability to measure Sales results,
develops action plans, implement and measure
the impact of plans.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
•Manages personal account development
including appointment scheduling, personal
calls, time and territory management, and
follow up.
•Must be assertive in making phone
calls, meeting with customers, and spending
time with high-potential prospects to secure
the business.
•Reviews market analysis to determine
customer needs, volume potential, pricing
needed and sales campaigns.
•Represents the company at traffic
club meetings, trade show associations and
similar events to promote company if deemed
appropriate by prior consultation with General
Manager.
•Co-ordinates new account start-up
with Vice-President including thorough review
of account profile and specific service
requirements.
•Submit weekly sales reports to
management that outlines contacts made and
status of account and potential revenue to be
gained.
•Produce weekly and monthly sales
recap to company employees and others is
necessary
•Responsibilities also include
identifying other potentials within an account
for the West Family of Companies
•Effectively communicate with all
levels of staff within the corporation with a
willingness to offer opinions and insight.
•Be a leader in the Business
Generation, Pricing and Sales-Marketing support
of clients.
•Cross function experience
(Sales-Marketing & Logistics / Supply Chain
) is a plus. Focus , Vision and Process skills
to the desired end results. Outgoing
personality and strong bias for action with a
hands on approach.
Environment and Physical Requirements:
•Considerable travel will be
necessary primarily within the sales area of
candidate. Anticipate weekly travel to have as
many as 2-3 overnight stays per week. Travel
could reach as many as 30-35k driven miles
annually.
•Duties include progressive
administrative functions using the phone,
computer, and communicating with people. There
will be minimum exposure to fumes, noise, and
hazardous materials. This duty position
requires minimum lifting and when lifting is
performed a maximum weight of 50 pounds is
anticipated. While performing these duties
minimum bending of the waist, wrist, and
shoulders is customary.

An initial consideration and interview(s)
will be followed by the request of an initial 6
month ‘plan of action’ submitted
by the applicant to the Vice President,
President and Owners. This plan to include
initial insight to Sales achievement goals,
time line and anticipated results the applicant
would anticipate.
Customer interaction will be expected and
the ability to effectively communicate with all
levels of Operations and Management is
needed.
